Background
MoveOutATX helps students donate unwanted, gently used items at temporary donation stations in West Campus [in Austin, Texas]. The program helps avoid the mess while putting items in the hands of organizations that can use them, rather than sending them to a landfill. For the second year, MoveOutATX is also hosting a Free Furniture Market. Participating reuse organizations will move donated furniture pieces to the Free Furniture Market located at the UT Austin Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex. Austinites can come to this location to take what they’d like. Items will be given away on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Participants must be able to load and transport items themselves and will be required to sign a liability waiver.
MoveOutATX is a partnership between the City of Austin, UT Office of Sustainability and UT Off-Campus Initiative, as well as participating reuse organizations and property management companies.
Dates and Times
Free Furniture Market operational times are daily from July 28 to July 31, 6:30–8:15 p.m. If items remain, the market will open August 1, 10-11 a.m. Visit MoveOutATX.org/furniture-market for updates.
