Not all watches will have an obvious place to put a tool to open the back to replace the battery. A quick internet search shows there are official tools and tool kits for battery watch replacement you can get. I was just curious so I just used a small nail and a hammer to get the back of this watch open. I don’t remember why I didn’t use a tiny screwdriver, maybe they didn’t fit or I couldn’t find them? My husband moves the screwdriver set sometimes.

I did scratch the back up quite a bit but its the back so I don’t care. I did get the back off and was pleased to see that it was a regular button battery that I could replace myself.

The battery had the SR on it instead of the numbers that Duracell used. I took the battery with me to the store and since I know CVS has more battery options, especially for battery buttons, I went there. I try to avoid Target if I can and I do not shop at Walmart but those stores may have a good battery button selection, I’m not sure. Fortunately the size matched the 379 and when I turned the pack over I saw the other number options that that battery size goes by. I was able to get the battery. It inserts simply and the back popped back on quickly and easily.
Sometimes there are CVS coupons after you get a prescription or you may have a family or friends that get coupons you can ask for at places you may need to get a special battery from. Ask around.
Batteries of all types and sizes can be recycled at any Austin Public Library location or the Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center. Battery Plus locations should also take back batteries.
