I’m sure there are many crafty things you can do with extra lids:
You can use them as liners under wet things or oily things.
Put them under the sink under cabinets to catch possible water leaks.
You could use them as dividers of something.
They could go under potted plants to protect the surface the pot is on.
I don’t know! But if you are saving them, lots of loose lids for things you can’t match up and you won’t be crafty or creative with them, help your mental health and space by recycling them.
Most lids are common # 1, 2, or 5 plastics in colors most recyclers will take like white or clear. If you can’t match a lid, and it’s hard to make pairs through Buy Nothing because there are just so many options from so many stores out there, just recycle them. Visual clutter is mental clutter so let it go.
Ideally if you have space you store the lid under the bin. Or better yet to use the lid to contain the contents and protect contents from dust and pests, but that may not work with your storage situation. Don’t hide them though and forget them, especially if you are in a common use space like a place of worship, school or place of work.
