My son was so excited to find these baskets for me!
Wash your baskets, especially ones that are new to you and are from second hand or thrift stores. Even from other people you know. Just wash things that are new to you to clear out dust, animal dander, etc. This is the super dark brown water after a quick rinse and scrub on the three baskets that I got from the Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Use warm water and a tiny bit of soap, don’t soak them. Just rinse and swoosh enough to get all the residue off. Scrub a little bit with a soft toothbrush if you need to. Some of this dirty water may be wood stain, or it could be decades of dust. Who knows.
I’m happy with the results for my first try and at $5 for three baskets I was willing to experiment after doing my research.
