Rehoming Bookcases: Tips and Experience

I’ve had success rehoming quite a few bookcases, both for sale and for free. I share a few tips here.

Empty the bookcase if you can maybe one shelf, or at least take closeups of the distinctive features like top, bottom and shelf back. Some people won’t empty a bookcase until they know it’s going to just be flexible.

🧭Include the area of town/zip code

🪢Include blankets, bungees, and dolly recs to help your customer out

👫Include how many people needed to move it especially if you definitely cannot help move or won’t be on site

📐Include measurements: height, width, depth

💲Price your time. Be flexible, you won’t get what you paid for it. Think 1/3 the original price.

👻A price weeds out the ghosters and hoarders. I start at least at $20 which is what a lot of people want to pay FOR EVERYTHING but use the internet to get you a range of what your bookcase is really worth.

I ended up having a really lovely experience with this set and the new own was so excited they share the pieces in their new home.
