Before and After: A Changing Table

The featured image is of an old oak changing table that was in a church restroom. The pad was torn. The wood was beat up oak. The knobs were rose pink and from the 80s. It was sturdy, but a bit off putting to look at.

In an effort to update the site and amenities, I tried asking for a new one in Buy Nothing. Oddly enough it was not a season/year of those being available. It was interesting because at one point I ended up with two myself to rehome once my son was a tad older. The bed ended up being easier to use to change diapers than the changing table anyway.

So here was my Buy Nothing Post: Ask: new changing table pad, or even a new changing table if you are looking to re-home one. We need a new one for my small church congregation. Thank you!

The church’s home improvement hobbyist Betty took it in hand after several months of failed asking and refinished it with new knobs.

I bought a new changing pad and it looked great. Very modern, contemporary and sturdy.

This is one of the things in entities where it’s important to communicate projects and goals. Betty and I together made it work.
