Please recycle batteries or properly dispose of them at a take-back site. If you are in Austin, check out https://www.austintexas.gov/batteries for a location near you or visit your local library. You can also drop them off at the household hazardous waste station at the Recycle & Reuse Drop-off Center. Please call first to make sure the location is actively participating in the program. Please do not put batteries in your household trash. Batteries are considered household hazardous waste and if they interact with other chemicals in the trash trucks (all the bags get crushed together and can break open), the trucks can catch on fire, called a hot load. #batteries #atxrecycles #recyclebatteries #recycle Consider transitioning to rechargeable batteries for AA and AAA. The technology is continually improving for rechargeable batteries so if you had a poor experience in the past, consider trying again if funds allow.
If you are outside the Austin area, check with your local Batteries Plus https://www.batteriesplus.com/t/recycling or provider for recommendations.
