Recycle Window Screens if you can’t repair them. There are repair kits for screens at hardware stores you can get if you have a small spot or a few. My screen was busted so I recycled the thing. If it’s difficult for you to repair or have time to repair, ask around if a neighbor can do it or if you have a handyperson nearby. We have several in my neighborhood and they are working on repairs and replacements after a recent hail storm in Austin.
You can recycle the screen frames for sure if they are metal. Maybe the inside depending on the age/material of your screens. My current house is 19 years old and its screen is a metal frame with plastic, or at least non-metal, mesh.
Cut the mesh out and the frame can be recycled in scrap metal at the recycling center.
The house I grew up in (at least the 1980s) had metal frames with metal mesh that could cut a finger (lived experience). So if you have an older house and the inside is metal too, you can take your whole window screen to scrap metal at a recycling center.
Do not put these in your recycling carts please, they will tangle the recycling system.
