Processing Magazines for Zero Waste and How We Think About Them

Do you have a pile of read magazines? Do you have a subscription you’ve had for years? What do you do with your old magazines? Lets go over some rehoming options and ways to think about magazine subscriptions.

TIP: Remove the address label/personal information by either peeling it off, cutting it off, or permanent markering it off.

Quick Answer: Find a Little Free Library, Buy Nothing Facebook group for your neighborhood, online group or a local group of worship, interest, etc. Examples: Shambhala Times at a Shambhala location or response magazine to a United Women in Faith circle.

Correction 1: The Inside Books Project does accept magazines “especially handyman/how-to, Spanish, any of the topics listed here, National Geographic).”

Not Options: Recycled Reads at Austin Public Library, Half Price Books, Austin Creative Reuse unless they’re older than 1970 which is “vintage.”
