A neighbor asked what to do with Greenlight air pillows so I sent in the question to Austin Resource Recovery since I wasn’t sure with the conflicting packaging information. The bags say “Bio” but then they also have a #2 on them. They say they are designed to biodegrade. I asked if these can these be composted in Austin’s commercial curbside composting system.

ARR responded as such, “We only accept items certified by third parties, such as BPI certifications, where independent organizations verify the items are compostable. These third-party certifiers verify that it meets the ASTMI- D6400 standard if you’re interested in learning more. We do not accept items listed as ‘biodegradable.’ In addition, #2 plastics are hard plastics which suggests there is other misinformation on the package.”
In Austin these go in the trash. I love neighbor questions and learning more. So keep them coming!
