I cover all the R’s here and Repair is one of them. This particular featured image is where a soap dispenser used to be. It was caked in soap underneath which was an exercise in acrobatics to fit under the sink and clean that! That was not a good spot for a garbage disposal! There wasn’t going to be anything else installed in the hole and I don’t want water dripping through and pooling or causing mold under the sink so I needed to cover it.
The hole is covered with what is called a “Kitchen Sink Hole Cover.” You can get them at your local hardware store for about $5.50. You’ll also need silicone caulk to seal it on the top and underneath.
For the featured image, I chose brushed nickel to match the faucet. I wanted a cream one to match the counter but there wasn’t and I do not use white near sinks as they’ll get dirty and gross way to quickly. In my own home I have a black/red counter so I chose a matte black cover because I thought it would blend in more and be less obvious, which is its.
Below is the before and after of this sink.

I knew about this from having done this in my own home. My sink had a hole that was originally for a sink hose. We switched the faucet (after it broke and was not repairable) to one with a built in hose so there was hole. For a while we had little filtered water spout, but that went away when we had to buy a new fridge (also broke and was not repairable despite my husband’s bet efforts). Then I installed a soap dispenser which is never sturdy and makes a mess so it had to go. So the hose -> water -> soap dispenser -> empty hole that needed covered.

These come in a lot of colors and are easy to install, you just may have to stretch a bit if you have a dispenser in the way. Use something heavy to hold the top/cover in place as you screw on the gasket. You can do this by yourself, I did both myself and they’ve held up.
