Children’s museums, after school programs, activity groups, church classes, etc. can be a wonderful way to donate items you no longer need which may be landfilled, and they very much would appreciate.
Thinkery, Austin’s children’s museum, is always looking for item donations for their crafts and projects. Many of the items are small and can be easily collected.
Reuse is a higher and greater use than recycle so be sure to collect these items and drop them off. Some of these items (like lids) are so small that it is difficult to recycle them (they fall through the single stream sorting machines into the trash collection at the bottom), or they have particular recycling requirements like being driven to a collection center. The Thinkery collection bin is always outside and easy to access.
